Make The Trash Go Away....

All these years I've been doing it wrong.....
Instead of overloading my little trailer I
should just call Richard and his excavator

Trash Pile

This is 1 of several trash piles in the yard. This was the largest. A little project like this creates a lot of trash.

Interior Walls

Got the interior walls framed in on Thursday.Basically just the walls of the
bathroom. What you see here is the doorway
into the bathroom from the bedroom.

Wrong Roof

Thought I would check in on the roofers and see how it was going...... I stepped off the ladder on to the roof and told them to STOP! The shingles were the wrong color. They had about 1/3 of the roof done when I stopped them. This was Friday, Monday they came back and delivered the correct shingles, and left an hour later..... They showed up Tuesday at 9am, removed the mistake, took a break at 10:15, roofed for a bit, took lunch, finished up and left mid-afternoon. Thinkin I shoulda been a roofer with those kinda work hours.....

Door and Windows

Windows and door went in on Thursday evening, 8 days after they started framing. Amazing how cold it gets went you open up your house to the elements on a project like this.

Im Behind.....

Ok, Im behind again. Time for sleep wins out over blogging time.
Its been about a week since my last post. Been alot of action
around here in that week. So lets get started on getting caught
up.

Going Going Gone

What used to be the back wall of the house in
our bedroom is coming down. Shane is standing
just inside of where our south bedroom window
was as he removes sheetrock from the wall.
This is not a bad picture..... The haze is the dust
from the blow-in insulation in the attic coming
down as Shane removes the ceiling in what was
our bedroom. The back wall has been removed.

Boxed In

Im a couple days behind...
(Slept instead of blogged)

Here is the addition with all
the boxing on the walls and
roof. We ran out of house wrap
(white stuff with upside down
Lowes logo). Waiting on roofer
and siding is on its way from
Nebraska.....

Roof Framing

Roof framing is coming along nicely. The crew worked saturday to make up for
the time they lost last monday and tuesday because of the rain. They got all the
half trusses up over the new room and got most of the rafters added on to the west side over the family room.

Walls Up

The walls are up! I didnt get a shot
of just the sub-floor by itself. With
the exterior walls up we can get a
feeling of just how big the bedroom will be.

She Thinks I've Gone Crazy.......

Ha... Jokes on her....
I haven't GONE crazy....
I was BORN this way....
You would think after 27 years
she woulda figured that out....
XOXO Love Ya Honey....

Floor Framing

Here the floor joists are in place
and waiting to have the subfloor
glued and nailed on.

Truss Delivery

The semi carrying the roof trusses
dumps them in the back yard.
Reminds me of years ago..... when
I worked in lumberyards making
deliveries just like it.

Muddy Mess

With almost an inch and a quarter
of rain in one day the soft dirt around
and in the hole turned into a big mud
bath. I pumped about 6" of water out
of the hole. With the pool gone and
that area bare dirt it too is a sloppy
mess. The lumber delivery truck
got stuck in the back yard and we
had to pull it out with a 4 wheel drive.

BackFill

Little Richard came back out
and back filled dirt on the
outside of the foundation walls

Foundation Walls

Here are the foundation walls
with the forms stripped off

Plan Scan

Ok, got a scan of the plan. The area where its marked walk in closet and most of the bathroom
are where our existing bedroom is. What looks
like a corner soaker tub is going to be a large
shower with 2 heads and a corner seat. Our closet now will become the closet for the front bedroom and that rooms closet and the hallway
linen closet will be removed providing added floor space in that room.

Here is the brick before I started
screwing the furring strips on. The
old 4x12 ruf cedar mantle has
already been removed.
Here furring strips have been
screwed to the brick. Furring
strips gives me something solid
to nail the facing to.
A work in progress. The main facing is up
but the hearth front is not.
Here it is all done and pretty

Pump It Up

They used a concrete pump to pour the foundation walls.
Here Brad, (black shirt) Shane, (white shirt) and the pump operator
(grey shirt) place concrete in the forms. Took about 5 minutes for
them to pour 36ft of wall.

Seal Of Approval

There is a sign in our house that says.....
"This House Is Owned And Operated Solely For The Comfort And Convenience Of My Dog"

Misty added her autograph to the footings....... Cant wait to hear what Brad the job foreman has to say monday
Here the footing is poured and the upright rebar that will anchor the stem wall is in place. This was friday, the crew will build the stem wall forms monday morning and pour them in the afternoon.

Every Building Needs A Strong Foundation

Formed up and ready to pour. The footing forms are staked in place and rebar is drilled into the existing house foundation.
Then you wait...........

For the City Inspector.........
To sign off on the footings on your permit.

Then you wait..........
For the concrete truck to show up.
