Whole Lota Dirt

Ever wonder what 30 cubic yards of dirt looked like out of a hole?

Dug Out

Richard cleared the way for construction to begin. Digging out the crawl space and area for the foundation footings. Please note that there is a Skid Steer loader on my Christmas list now...... I could have alot of fun...huh.... I mean....I could get alot of work done with 1 of those

First Bite

This is the first bite.... "Little Richard" (guy has to be 6' 10") the dirt guy, digs the first bucket full of dirt for the crawl space. Richard made it look easy, took less than an hour to dig whole area to a depth of 2 feet.

Getting Started....Demolition

The Money Pit is gone..... The pool is gone after all these years. Sure opens up the back yard. Wonder if asphalt is cheaper than concrete? Be a great spot for a basketball court with a HUGE Jayhawk center court........

In The Beginning

This is the view that will be changing. Looking at the south east corner of the back of the house.

Project Overview

What Started out as a "Grand Plan" has now been reduced to a "Workable Plan". (Its always about the Money)
The Project is an 16'X20' addition which will become our new bedroom, our existing bedroom will become a bathroom and walk in closet. At the same time the linen closet in the hallway and the closet in the front bedroom will be removed and the closet in our current bedroom will be switched to the closet for the front bedroom. I would post a scan of the drawings but Windows Vista made our scanner obsolete.
To go along with the changes to the back of the house we have replaced windows on the front of the house and removed the front breezeway door. Changing out the picture window in the dining room allowed us to remove the 2 different kinds of fake stone on front of the house and will be resided with siding to match rest of house.
The crown jewel will be the bathroom. The corner Jacuzzi tub was cut from the project in favor of a large shower with seating and 2 shower heads, just not enough room for both. Oil rubbed bronze finished fixtures will look great with the golden sand ceramic tile we have picked out.

Follow The Suite....

Im Starting this blog so all can follow along and see the progress of our Master Suite Addition. Hopefully I will keep it updated with current pictures and comments on our mental well being....
