Should We Try This Again?

Wow, it's been awhile since I posted here. Maybe I should try and get something going on here again.
Here we go.......

It's Father Day 2012, what did I get you ask....
From Nicole I got a Menards gift car, (toy car is actually a gift card) and a digital tire pressure gauge I asked for.
From Jason I got a Amazon gift car, surely there is something on Amazon I want....
From Nora I got a Sedgwick County Zoo membership, watch for zoo pictures on the blog in the future...
Also got to eat at Olive Garden for dinner and Golden Corral for breakfast, (where else can I get steak and eggs and hashbrowns and sausage and bacon and grits and....and....and....)

New Update......

The whole idea of doing a blog of the construction was a good idea i thought........ But actually keeping up with it is whole different thing. Idea kinda went in the toilet you might say.....

Sub Contractors.............................................

Sub Contractors are the guys who do the mechanical installations like Heating and Air, Plumbing, Electrical. Heres a quick run down of the problems we had with them....

Heat and Air;

 Made promises he didnt keep (change existing registers to common size, 1 week install (2 weeks))

Drove a 1 ton tuck into my front yard leaving ruts. Wouldnt return my calls when I had problems. Told electrician didn't need new service old 1 was fine, NOT, needed bigger 1.

DON'T USE AIRTRON 

Plumbing;

Showed up a day late, TWICE. Didn't show up at all to install vent pipe flashing, rained next day so I did it... Tryed charging me for stuff that I supplied. Added $400.00 for a gas line he "forgot" to put in bid

DON'T USE ARMSTRONG PLUMBING

Electrical;

We had fairly good luck with electrician, at least he did everything I asked him to do. Its ok to use Barone Electric, tell Danny to send Denny out to do your job.

Way behind

Sorry for the lack of posts. Busy busy busy. To Do List is getting shorter tho

Sorry so far behind....

Sorry I'm so far behind on the blog. With the arrival of the sub-contractors came a lack of sleep. Day time workers have no respect for those of us who keep the world turning while you all sleep. Oh well, all in the interest of getting this project done. I'm on vacation this next week so maybe I will have time to get caught up with the stories of the problems with subs.... (reasons I have less hair and more wrinkles than before we started....)

Make The Trash Go Away....

All these years I've been doing it wrong.....

Instead of overloading my little trailer I 

should just call Richard and his excavator

Trash Pile

This is 1 of several trash piles in the yard. This was the largest. A little project like this creates a lot of trash.

Interior Walls

Got the interior walls framed in on Thursday.Basically just the walls of the 

bathroom. What you see here is the doorway

into the bathroom from the bedroom.

Wrong Roof

Thought I would check in on the roofers and see how it was going...... I stepped off the ladder on to the roof and told them to STOP! The shingles were the wrong color. They had about 1/3 of the roof done when I stopped them. This was Friday, Monday they came back and delivered the correct shingles, and left an hour later..... They showed up Tuesday at 9am, removed the mistake, took a break at 10:15, roofed for a bit, took lunch, finished up and left mid-afternoon. Thinkin I shoulda been a roofer with those kinda work hours.....

Door and Windows

Windows and door went in on Thursday evening, 8 days after they started framing. Amazing how cold it gets went you open up your house to the elements on a project like this.
